- DVD BUC Buckdancing for beginners [videorecording] : the basics of southern Appalachian flatfoot clogging (Main library)
- DVD TAL Talking feet [videorecording] : solo Southern dance: flatfoot, buck and tap / producers Mike Seeger, Heath Curdts (Damascus)
- DVD Ram- Ramps & Ruritans: Tales of the Revered and Reeking Leek of Flad Pond, TN/ director, Fred Sauceman; producer, Larry Smith
Every spring, members of the Flag Pond Ruritan Club, in the mountains of East Tennessee, knock the dirt off their shovels and spades and tune up their sturdiest four-wheel drives. Their destination: mountainsides at around 3,000 feet above sea level. They seek ramps. The wild mountain leek. As their Scots-Irish, German, and Cherokee ancestors have done for generations, they eat ramps for renewal. According to legend, ramps thin down slow-flowing blood. their pungency energizes bodies grown accustomed to cold-weather inactivity. And after months of wintertime restlessness, ramps reconnect these mountin-folk to the earth and to each other. In the Unicoi community of Flag Pond, a ramp reunion takes place on the second Saturday in May, when the long-abandoned Flag Pond School gets a scrub-down in preparation for 1,000 visitors. This tiny community near the North Carolina line hosts the Flag Pond Ruritan Ramp Festival. Members of the club staff a line of black iron skillets and stir ramps into fried potatoes. They hand out a couple of raw ramps to the bold who request them. They speak of streaked meat and soup beans. With school consolidation in Unicoi County, many residents missed the opportunity for regular visits with their neighbors. For that reason and others, the Ruritan Club started the festival, in the mid-1980's. The gathering also raises the ramp to a much-deserved level of respectability. From stories of getting sent home from school for having ramp breath, Unicoi Countians move very quickly to anecdotes about ramps and hot-shot chefs, white tablecloths, and the cost of the wild mounting leek in New York City markets. The ramp is now trendy. But for Unicoi Countians, all the food world notoriety has yet to overshadow the age-old reality of ramps, potatoes, bacon grease, and black iron.
- DVD Mou- Mountain Mojo: a Cuban Pig Roast in East Tennessee/ Director, Fred Sauceman; producer, Larry Smith
Every fall, Eduardo Zayas-Bazán, a native of Cuba who was a veteran of the 1961 Bay of Pigs invasion and who taught Spanish at East Tennessee State University for over 30 years, hosts a Cuban-style pig roast in Tennessee for family and friends. "Among my fondest memories are the pig roasts we had in Cuba on special occasions," said Zayas-Bazán, who marinates his pigs in juice mixed with garlic and oregano, and cooks them in a contraption that he says "looks like a shoe box with a grill inside." With the annual pig roast as context, the film tells the story of Zayas-Bazán's life, both in Cuba and the U.S.
- DVD Red- Red Hot Dog Digest/ by Fred Sauceman.
The Lee Highway once connected Washington D.C. to San Diego, California. Along a stretch of that road, Highway 11, in the southwestern part of Virginia, folks eat red-dyed hot dogs. Whether boiled in scarlet-tinted water, blackened in a cast-iron skillet, grilled on an aging flattop, or skewered, battered, deep-fried, and painted in mustard, the red hot dog has brought sustenance and joy to generations of Virginians at the price of a little pocket change. This is its story, told through visits to the Corner Dog House on the Virginia side of Bristol, the Dip Dog Stand in Marion, Skeeter's in downtown Wytheville, and at Christiansburg's Dude's Drive-In.
